I confess, I hate texting, but it is handy sometimes. If you're in your LYS for instance, and you need to convey an urgent message to a friend or husband and you don't want to disturb the elderly LYS ladies by talking on your cell phone, you can very discretely text away in the sock yarn aisle and no one is the wiser. However, in terms of regular correspondence, I think that texting is slow and way too tricky. Maybe I'm just old too.

Will you be in Sun Valley again this summer? I feel an evening of extreme beverage consumption and viola nerdiness in my future.

Thank you for this post, Kate! I don't want to be old either! I will text you-- I just have to figure out if I can do it on my cell plan.

Now that we discussed we're too old to be professional hockey players, we need awareness for such things as texting!

texting is awesome. Not useful if you actually want to talk to someone. I find it better for statements and check-ins where I don't need to talk I just nee to send more of a message.
It is great for me at work because my space is soooo open that everyone can hear everyone so MOlly and I can send each other quiet little private tidbits like "what time do you think you can get the hell outta there?"

The secret to a great texting experience is the T9 feature. It's like using a keyboard--super quick!

If texting is important, and perhaps it is, why do I have to pay $10 extra a month to Verizon to get unlimited texting. Remember, this is a company that I already pay over $150 to a month for two cell phone accounts, local phone and DSL. Not to mention it took them two weeks to put my phone line back up in October after the storm. Two weeks that it was laying in my neighbors swimming pool. Eff Verizon.

Kate,
welcome to the wonderful world of text messaging, or as we like to call it in Sweden, SMS. I LOVE TEXT MESSAGES!!! Every year when I return to the US it always takes me a few days to get over the lack of texting that goes on...
I don't know if your cell accepts international texts, but we should try it out sometime. Happy texting!!!
