As regular readers of this blog will note, I have recently felt a bit of apprehension about my relationship to this blog and the internet in general. Last week, The Internet and I were on a break. This week, I am taking things in an entirely different direction. On Saturday, I am marrying the Internet.
No, no....I kid.
I have decided to participate in a new project called Indie Bloggers. You should too. Indie Bloggers is for all of us non-mommy, non-knitting, non-foodie, blogging stragglers. (Actually, I think you are more than welcome even if you do have a blog niche.) Here is what the Indie Blogger editors have to say about the project:
"Indie Bloggers is about giving exposure to bloggers who need to be read. Indie Bloggers is a showcase of written talent - stories, almost - that you may not see otherwise. Anyone can submit. Everyone may not be published right away or at all, but there are few restrictions (i.e., I don’t want to hear about your sex life). Please don’t be intimidated. We want your best!"
I certainly don't believe I am a "blogger who needs to be read", (last I checked, a person could survive quite happily for years without googly eyes), but I am going to give this a shot. Until I started this blog, I never realized how much I enjoy writing. Before OhForFun, I didn't give much thought to the quality of my writing, but now it is something I think about quite a bit. I would like to be a better writer and I figure the only way to improve is to practice. (No matter how hard I try, I can't drink the years of musical training away.....practice, practice, practice.) Maybe this project will provide a little motivation.
I scrolled through a few of my past posts and submitted He's Still My Boyfriend (renamed "I'm Super, Thanks For Asking") to Indie Bloggers. I have always liked that silly little post. If anyone has any suggestions for posts they think I should submit, I'd be interested to hear which ones you liked most.
Last week? Blogging diet. This week? Blogging binge. Welcome to Oh For Fun!
